ABOUT
Canada Youth Chamber Orchestra
Since 2019, CYCO has provided exceptional orchestral training for youth string students, with weekly sessions led by distinguished coaches from top orchestras like the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Ontario Philharmonic Orchestra.
CYCO consists of two orchestras, Senior and Junior, with all members auditioning at the start of the school year. We focus on developing leadership, rhythm, musicality, technical skills, and ensemble performance.
Students perform in multiple concerts yearly, featuring classical repertoires and movie soundtracks. Highlights include a 2023 concert in Kuala Lumpur with the Selangor Philharmonic Orchestras. Our final annual concert features professional brass and woodwind players.
Outstanding students and OYMI Music Festival winners often perform as soloists. CYCO members also benefit from masterclasses with renowned Canadian musicians.

Application fee: $50
Application deadline: September 2nd, 2024
Tuition Fee: $895 (September 2024-June 2025. Including all rehearsals, performances and other opportunities)
Rehearsals: 7pm-9pm on Monday evening (excluding holidays and breaks)
Rehearsal location: 105 Gibson Centre (105 Gibson Dr, Markham, ON)

Registration and Audition
Please fill in the registration form. Audition time slots will be sent via email in September after the application deadline. Auditions for the 2024-2025 Canada Youth Chamber Orchestra Season will take place on Sunday, September 15th, at the Steinway Piano Gallery Toronto. Based on the auditions, accepted students will be placed in either the Senior Orchestra or Junior Orchestra. A limited number of partial and full scholarships are available for outstanding students based on their audition performance.

Audition repertoires: A solo work of participant's own choice (4-5 mins)
